Nathaniel S. Goggans

Mr. Goggans helps businesses and professionals focus on productivity by efficiently resolving disputes, litigation, and trials. He has tried and mediated many cases and obtained great results for many clients, as well as representing them in arbitration. He has experience in a variety of state and federal trial courts, as well as the state and federal appellate court systems. He has even filed a brief to the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Goggans particularly enjoys helping his clients fix real estate title problems, including competing ownership claims, boundary line disputes, easement problems, adverse possession, and condemnation / inverse condemnation issues. On many occasions he has been appointed by the courts as a guardian ad litem to find missing heirs or property owners and clear up confusion about land ownership.

Mr. Goggans also advises businesses on regulations and regulatory compliance.  He helps clients reach agreements with other people and companies, and then to clearly document those agreements.  Mr. Goggans has also served as a member of a state regulatory body (the Tennessee Ethics Commission) where he contributed to the rule-making and enforcement processes. Mr. Goggans has the experience to help companies identify their obligations and to defend enforcement actions.

Mr. Goggans also fights for his clients in a variety of family law matters, including divorces that involve large assets or other complicated issues. Few crises in life are more traumatic than family breakups or changes in parenting arrangements. Mr. Goggans looks out for his clients domestic rights and legal needs while they work through those changes.
