Mr. Abbott, one of our firm’s three defense attorneys, focuses his practice in the areas of construction litigation, real estate litigation, and criminal defense. His civil litigation experience encompasses such issues as construction disputes, bond claims, materialmen’s and mechanics’ liens, title insurance defense, zoning, deed and title disputes, quiet title actions, boundary line disputes as well as a variety of general commercial and business disputes.

Mr. Abbott’s criminal defense experience includes practice in both Federal and State Courts handling misdemeanor and felony cases including DUI, Robbery, Murder, Sex Offenses, Drug and Conspiracy Cases. Mr. Abbott’s criminal litigation experience includes complex white collar cases in Federal Court.

Mr. Abbott served as an interim municipal judge for the City of Collegedale from October 2003 to March 2005. In 1988 he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Reserves, where he served for eight years. He is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm, where his unit supported the 101st Airborne Division.

A native of Chickamauga, Georgia, Mr. Abbott has lived in Chattanooga since 1991. He enjoys cooking, barbecuing and spending time with his wife and their two sons.
